As we all know by now the Chargers have lost RB Danny Woodhead for the season, due to ACL injury. In desperate need of another back, they look for one with similar style; Dexter McCluster.
It’s not all new faces when it comes to McCluster coming to the Chargers; Chargers offensive coordinator, Ken Whisenhunt is well aware of what McCluster is able to do. In Whisenhunts first year at head coach for the Tennessee Titan, he brought in McCluster and got some good usage from him in the two seasons he was there. He was the 3rd down back last year at Tennesee and here’s a few of the stats of his from last season:
55 rushes for 237 yards and a touchdown. 31 catches(on 41 targets)260 yards and 1 touchdown. He also filled in as a good punt/kick returner, averaging 9 yards on punts and 21.9 on kick returns.
So as far as the NFL season being underway and there not being a ton of choices, this looks like a great choice for the occasion.
