The game is on the line, 78 yards to go in 77 seconds. One quick pass, goes out-of-bounds, good. Second pass right over the middle to Hunter Henry, who never fumbled throughout his entire collegiate career, fumbled to lose the game. Given, it isn’t all on his shoulders. There was a missed extra-point, injuries and missed conversions.
That’s the lead story out of today. Manti Te’o, who has had his share of leg injuries over his career, is done. Possibly for the year. Brandon Flowers, also went out due to the concussion protocol in the 4th quarter, due to an inadvertent knee from Denzel Perryman.
The Chargers defense cause 2 turnovers today which resulted in 10 points. Jason Verrett struggled today with T.Y. Hilton. Verrett came into this game as the leagues number 1 corner back on a few lists, but was hung out to dry today; Hilton finished the day with 8 receptions, 174 yards and a touchdown.
Melvin Gordon didn’t look like the Gordon from the last two games. He had a touchdown which tied the game in the 2nd quarter, but he only had 35 yards on 16 carries. Hunter Henry did have a good outing, despite the fumble, finishing with 76 yards on 5 receptions. Tyrell Williams kept the hype up looking very good. Philip Rivers looked like a shadow of himself from last week. Taking too long in the pocket, not making passes that he normally would, no touchdowns; passed for 330 yards.
The Colts put this one away with the final score being 26-22. The Chargers play Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints next Sunday.
